Steven Thomas has always been a mad keen fan of Cardiff City Football Club and even after he suffered a severe brain injury, he continued to follow his beloved team. Even though Steven was told he would never walk again, he has made remarkable steps to regain his health and functionality. So much so, that he did not need his disabled pass season ticket.
Being the kind natured person that Steven is, he decided to offer up his pass in a competition that was promoted in the summer editions of Vale Life and City Life. Steven (above right), whose father Allan Gardiner (above left) owns Thomas Gardiner Interiors in Cardiff, chose the winner and recently presented Kyle Beere with his pass at the City Stadium, along with members of his family, his carers, Steven’s parents, and representatives of the Club.
Steven said, “I read through all of the entries but when I read Kyle’s story, it reminded me so much of myself. Kyle loved his football and was a keen player before his brain haemorrhage at the age of twelve. Even though the specialists wanted to switch off the machines keeping Kyle alive, he defied all the odds and started responding to tests. That’s what happened to me too. I look forward to seeing Kyle again at the next home game.”
